Chorus is not just about singing. There are many factors that contribute to you becoming a great singer, musician, and choir member. In this class, we will focus on five goals: musicality, intonation, vocal technique, sight-reading, and audiation. We will explore the proper techniques for singing, the social and historical contexts of the pieces we perform, creative ways to express a musical meaning, and how to be a respectful choir and audience member.
Chorus classes focus on these Choral Skills:
healthy vocal techniques
quality tone production
unification of ensemble sound
Interpretation and expression
communication of meaning
performance skills and etiquette
All students enrolled in Chorus will perform in a Winter Concert and a Spring Concert this school year. It is expected than all students enrolled in a Chorus class attend both concerts.
Each concert performance counts as a major summative grade for this course.
