East Middle will be starting a Chess Club again this year. It will occur on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. starting October 31st. It will end for the 1st semester on December 19th and run again for the 2nd semester from February 27th - May 22nd. The club is intended for students that have an interest in chess, want to meet other players and learn more about the game. Students of all skill levels are welcome.
*****There will be no chess club on November 21st or on April 10th*****
The focus will be developing skills and relationships, not on competition, although there will be a voluntary chess tournament at the end of the year. The club will be led by Dr. Mike McGrew, school psychologist, and Ron Peck, special education teacher.
