Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP)

PLEASE NOTE: All information is subject to change due to direction from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
Algebra I MCAP: Graduation requirement
· Students need a passing score of 725 on the Algebra I assessment.
· Administered to all students who are enrolled in Algebra I.
· Administered to remediated students who have not passed the Algebra I MCAP. These students are usually enrolled in Integrated Algebra.
English 10 MCAP: Graduation requirement
· Students need a passing score of 725 on the English 10 assessment.
· Administered to 10th graders who are enrolled in English 10.
· Administered to 11th graders who are enrolled in English 11 and have not passed the English 10 MCAP.
Government MCAP: Graduation requirement
· Students need a passing score of 394 on the Government assessment.
· Administered to all students who are enrolled in Government.
· Administered to remediated students who have not passed the Government MCAP and have tested once.
Biology MCAP – Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA): Graduation requirement
· Students only need to participate in the assessment. They do not need to earn a passing score.
· Administered to all students who are enrolled in Biology.
***MCAP assessments are administered at the conclusion of the tested course.
