Level I

Introduction to Networks

CCNA 1: Introduction to Networks (ITN) covers networking architecture, structure, and functions. The course introduces the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations to provide a foundation for the curriculum. 

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Explain network technologies.
  • Explain how devices access local and remote network resources.
  • Describe router hardware.
  • Explain how switching operates in a small to medium-sized business network.
  • Design an IP addressing scheme to provide network connectivity for a small to medium-sized business network.
  • Configure initial settings on a network device.
  • Implement basic network connectivity between devices.
  • Configure monitoring tools available for small to medium-sized business networks.

This course is the 1st in the Cisco Networking Program. The course includes activities using Packet Tracer, hands-on lab work, and a wide array of assessment types and tools.

Routing and Switching Essentials

CCNA 2: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials delves further into the world of networking. Students will learn the magnitude and interconnectedness of networks around the world and be able to configure a router and a switch to enable the functionality of a network. Students gain more knowledge on what it takes to work with LANs, WANs and other network designs. 

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Work with routers and switches using OSPF, EIGRP, and STP protocols in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
  • Resolve commons VLAN routing issues in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer.

This is the second course in a series designed to prepare you for networking technician jobs, plus prepare you for Cisco Certification.

Cisco Lab

The Cisco Lab course allows students to complete a variety of projects and increase their competency in networking-related programming.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Configure settings on a network device.
  • Implement network connectivity between devices.
  • Configure monitoring tools available for small to medium-sized business networks.
  • Apply skills through practice, using labs and Cisco Packet Tracer activities.
  • Translate real-world issues into computer-solvable problems.

Level II

Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation

In CCNA 3: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation students discover how large enterprises depend heavily on the smooth operation of their network infrastructure. Students will intimately understand network infrastructure and protocols and how they work together, while learning about current trends as technologies continue to evolve.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Configure WAN technologies and network services.
  • Build simple LANs.
  • Perform basic configurations for routers & switches
  • Implement IP addressing schemes.
  • Troubleshoot routers & switches
  • Resolve common VLAN routing issues in both IPv4 & IPv6 networks.
  • Prepare for Cisco CCNA Certification.

Cybersecurity Essentials

The Cybersecurity Essentials course develops foundational understanding of cybersecurity, and how it relates to information and network security. The course introduces students to characteristics of cyber-crime, security principles, technologies, and procedures to defend networks. Through interactive, multimedia content, lab activities, and multi-industry case studies, students build technical and professional skills to pursue careers in cybersecurity.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Learn procedures to implement data confidentiality, integrity, availability and security controls on networks, servers and applications.
  • Understand security principles and how to develop security policies that comply with cybersecurity laws.
  • Apply skills through practice, using labs and Cisco Packet Tracer activities.
  • Connect with the global Networking/Cybersecurity (CISCO) community.

No Certification

Security Core

In Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Core students will implement and operate core security technologies including network security, cloud security, content security, endpoint protection and detection, as well as secure network access and enforcement.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of network security principals.
  • Design, implement and support security for networked devices & data
  • Prepare for CCNA Security Certification.

CCCTC TRANSPORTATION- Transportation is provided to from your home high.  (there are some exceptions such as community based internship)  Also, students going to CCCTC will still have classes at their home high school and may continue to be involved in extracurricular activities.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS  (Don't just take our word for it)

CISCO Networking  Certification by CISCO assures parents and students that the skills we teach are relevant and important in today's job market.  CISCO's certification of our program must be renewed every three years through an onsite evaluation of the program.

Penn College of Technology,  Frederick Community College, The Community Colleges of Baltimore County -  all have an agreement with CCCTC based on the college's requirements for curriculum, faculties, and instructor that is reviewed and renewed periodically to guarantee that students are getting the equivalent instruction at CCCTC that would be expected in class at that institution.  Credits are awarded based on that agreement.

PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY COUNSEL  By Federal and state regulations each program has a group of local business and educational institutions that periodically meets to discuss  the programs curriculum and resources to make sure current trends in technology and skills are being taught so that students are prepared for the ever changing career requirements for that industry.  (more)
