Century High School opened its doors to 700 ninth and tenth grade students on August 27, 2001 and graduated its first senior class in June 2004. Century is a career academy high school, meaning that students enter into one of the four academies at the beginning of their sophomore year and are encouraged to work towards an Academy Certificate by taking at least six credits within their chosen academy. Century High School is located in southern Carroll County, Maryland, approximately 22 miles northwest of Baltimore and 48 miles north of Washington, D.C.
Century is well known for its academic rigor, athletic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Its academies commonly plan activities and events that involve community members, local businesses, and members of government in student learning. Teachers are involved in professional activities in and out of school with several being National Board Certified. Century is made up of a great student body with vast potential.
In 2012 Century High was named a Maryland Blue Ribbon School.
In 2013 Century High was named a National Blue Ribbon School.
