October 10, 2019 - Gearing up for Battle of the Books!
CCPL Librarians are coming to speak to all 4th and 5th grade students to promote the annual Battle of the Books competition.  The students will hear information about the event and will also see fun book trailers to promote each of the titles on the nomination list this year!  The date and location for this year's Battle of the Books regional event is April 17, 2020 at Francis Scott Key High School.  This will include teams from Taneytown Elementary, Runnymede Elementary, and Elmer Wolfe Elementary.  Permission slips for teams are due by Friday, October 25th.

February or March - TES Mock Battle of the Books competition
Our TES Battle of the Books teams will compete against one another as a way to prepare for the actual competition in April! 4th and 5th grade TES Battle of the Books team members will participate in a practice competition amongst our own TES groups.  The purpose of this event is to help them understand what the actual competition will feel like, as well as provide a chance to think about which books they may want to brush up on over the next month.

March 31, 202 - Author Night

Our annual Author Night is going to be amazing!  Author Marc Tyler Nobleman will be here with a fascinating presentation about the history behind several of his best selling books!

Friday April 17, 2020 -- Battle of the Books!
TES will, once again, be sending several teams of 4th and 5th graders to the regional Battle of the Books competition.  We participate in the Northwest Region competition which includes Taneytown, Runnymede, and Elmer Wolfe.   The competition will be held on April 17th at 6:30pm at Francis Scott Key High School. Teams must consist of 5 - 9 members.   For more information about this event and the books on this year's list, please go to the

APRIL = SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA MONTH
We will be planning lots of fun activities throughout the month of April to promote our Media program as well as a general love of reading! Ask your student about the events and activities we hold and the prizes we give away! :-)

March 23 - 27 -- Scholastic Book Fair (Family Night Monday March 23rd, 2020!)
Our annual Book Fair will be held in the Spring! The annual Book Fair helps to foster a love of reading in our students, as well as raise funds to support our Media program and Media Center.  Be on the lookout for more information and requests for help in the coming months.  You must be volunteer-trained to help out with this event, and we can always use MANY volunteers!

April 6 - 24th, 2020 -- 5th Annual TES Book Swap!
Bring in your clean and gently used books appropriate for elementary aged students. However many books you bring in, you can take that number of other gently used books home with you!  Tables will be set up in the Media Center and students may swap books during arrival time from 8am - 8:25am.  Happy Reading!

June 2020 -- CCPL Summer Reading Program visit
The librarians from our local Taneytown Branch of the Carroll County Public Library will be here all day to visit with each grade level during their Specials hour.  They will be sharing information about how the Summer Reading Program works.
