During the month of January, all students in grades PreK-5 will be taking a CCPS Mid-Year Mathematics Assessment. This is an opportunity for your child to show all that he or she has learned in math during the first half of the school year. The assessment will include each unit that has been taught this school year, as well as problems that will allow students to apply what they’ve learned and explain their thinking.
Your child will spend some time reviewing concepts in class; however, reviewing at home is also very important! We are encouraging every student to complete a January Benchmark Review calendar, so they are prepared for the Mid-Year Assessment in January. Feel free to complete activities when they work best for your family and holiday schedule. Try not to do more than two activities per day. Please work with your child each day to review and talk about the concepts. Encourage your child to explain to you what they know and to show their thinking using words, numbers, and pictures. We would like students to complete and return their calendar and work by January 31, 2022 so they can earn their reward. Students who complete their calendar successfully will be able to earn Chipper Bucks or Dojo points to trade in for prizes. If you have any questions, please ask your child’s mathematics teacher.
