Resources / Family Support

 

Family Support is a program that provides families, professionals, and the community with information, training, and support.Family Support serves all families in CCPS, including families of children with disabilities requiring an IEP, children with 504’s and families who may need guidance navigating community or school resources.

Family Support is sponsored by CCPS with financial support through MSDE.

Family Support hosts monthly Family Support Nights.Child care is typically provided at the monthly Family Nights.Additional topics are presented throughout the year as well.

Presentations for the 2019-2020 school year featured:Behavior Strategies, Special Ed. Basics, DDA/Transitions, Talk about Puberty and your changing body, Grief and taking care of yourself, Vendor Fair, Sibling/Parent panel, Financial/Legal presentations, Sensory Strategies, Transition to College, Transition from IFSP to IEP, Getting Ready for Kindergarten.

Sensory Friendly Films

 

AMC Theatres and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by Autsim and other disabilities a special opportunitiy to enjoy their favorite movies ina safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program.

In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for the unique audience, th movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten free, casein-free snacks and no previews or  advertisements will be shown before the movie.  Additionally, audience members are welcom to get up and dance, walk, shout and sing - in other words, AMC'S "Silence is  Golden" policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience  is  questioned.
