The Life Science curriculum has been matched to the outcomes of the MSDE Content Standards. Activities include hands-on experiences for at least 40% of the class time. These activities provide opportunities for students to see the relationship of science concepts to everyday life. The course is divided into the following units: body systems, life processes, cells, genetics, simple organisms, classification of animals, and ecology. Activities include one dissection of a frog with several others being optional. Alternative activities to the dissection are available upon request. Computers will enhance the course using the digitized text, a variety of software products, and data-collecting interfaces.
