Frequently Asked Questions

What is an assessment?
An assessment is a method to measure student progress towards understanding a concept or skill. Assessments measure content knowledge and understanding. Some assessments test cognitive information, others test performance (hands-on) applications.

Why do most Career and Technology Education completer programs use industry recognized tests and not teacher developed tests for end-of-course written assessments? Industry recognized tests are aligned to the curriculum, meet industry standards, and have been validated by experts in the field. Some of the tests also provide students with additional industry credentials upon achieving a passing score.
