The Carroll County Board of Education maintains and annual interest and presence in the Maryland legislative process. Each year when the General Assembly meets, we anticipate between 200 and 400 bills that propose either a direct or indirect impact on public education.

The Board of Education meets annually with the Carroll County Delegates and Senators to discuss topics of interest during the General Assembly. In advance of the Legislative session, the Board adopts formal legislative position statements to provide input to the Carroll County Delegation and direction to the Superintendent and staff. Based on the Board’s Legislative Position Statements, the staff will offer testimony on specific bills.

Please continually review the sections of this site for general legislative information from the Board of Education, bill specific information, related professional organizations’ information, and a list of bills being tracked in the General Assembly.
