The Combined Education Committee was agreed upon mutually by the Board of County Commissioners and the Board of Education. The Board of County Commissioners voted to form the Combined Education Committee on May 26, 2016. The Board of Education voted to participate in the committee on May 25, 2016.
The Combined Education Committee held its first meeting of the elected members on June 30, 2016. At the initial meeting, the elected members discussed the process for the committee, the role of the facilitator, communication strategies, and the non-elected members of the committee.
A purpose statement was considered: To reduce the gap between expenditures and revenue while maintaining a high quality education system.
