Substitute Teaching Information and Hiring Procedures
Beginning July 5, 2021, CCPS will begin hiring Daily Substitute Teachers for the 2021-20221 school year. Substitute Teacher applicants must have a minimum of 30 college credits verified by transcripts or a minimum test score of 455 on the ParaPro exam verified by a score sheet. Permanent Substitute applicants must have at least a Bachelor's degree. Substitutes must be at least 21 years of age to substitute in high schools. Substitutes are requried to work a minimum of 5 days per semester, totaling 10 days per school year.
When substituting as an Teacher:
Certified and/or Degreed (Bachelor's) Substitute: $115.29 per day, $57.65 per half day
Long-Term Substitute Assignments:
Day 1 through Day 10 - $115.29 per day
Day 11 through end of assignment - $126.91 per day
Non-degreed Substitute: $92.75 per day, $46.38 per half day (regardless of the duration of the assignment)
When substituting as an Insturctional Assistant:
$13.25 per hour
**On scheduled early close days, substitutes will be paid for five hours.

Substitute Registered Nurses
Substitute Registered Nurse applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program
- Current Maryland Registered Nurse (R.N.) license
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
Candidates selected for substitute teaching positions will receive notification via U.S. mail containing further instructions. Please do not call Human Resources regarding the status of your application.
When substituting as an RN:
As of July 1, 2019, the hourly rate will be $36.09 per hour.

Carroll County Public Schools is going paperless and going green! This means all employees, including substitutes, will have a computer login to access their payroll information including payroll checks, as well as receive important email information.
