Dance was first introduced in Carroll County Public Schools during the 2003–2004 school year. Today, each high school has the option to offer dance instruction. The availability of dance courses depends on student interest, as determined through the course selection process.
When offered, high school dance programs provide opportunities to study a range of dance styles and to participate in both curricular and extracurricular experiences. Enrollment in these classes also fulfills the fine arts graduation requirement established by the State of Maryland.
Dance courses can help students begin their journey toward a career in dance or develop a lifelong appreciation of the art form. To learn whether dance is available at your school, please contact your school’s administration.
