Health

 

As part of the high school instructional program, all students participate in comprehensive health education instruction. The purpose of the program is to provide accurate information that will allow students to make healthy choices and develop skills to maintain optimal health. The high school health class is a half-credit course and a requirement for graduation. Topics that are covered in the course include mental health, wellness, tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, nutrition, fitness, family life and human sexuality, bullying including cyber bullying, personal and consumer health, safety prevention, and disease prevention.  It is recommended that students take Health 1 during their freshman year.  An elective course, Health 2 is offered for upperclassmen that have an interest in a health related career. Topics that are covered in this course are included above, as well as, careers in the health field, CPR and first aid.​
