The Elementary Social Studies program improves student competencies in core Social Studies concepts in order to prepare responsible, productive citizens. Students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through working to understand the past, as well as the present world around them. All Carroll County Public Schools curriculum is guided by the standards and objectives of the MD State Curriculum to ensure a consistent program for all students.
The Social Studies Department develops curriculum and assessments, provides professional development for teachers, and assists them in implementing successful instructional strategies and practices.
