Students Will Be Able To:

Collect and analyze weather data
Explore climates in different regions of the world and analyze why there are variations within climate.
Describe and provide evidence about climates in different regions.
Identify climate patterns and changes in a given area over a period of time.
Explain how climate patterns can be identified.

Students Will Be Able To:

Observe objects in motion to find evidence of forces in direct contact, understanding how force influences motion of an object.
Observe, explain, demonstrate, and alter strength and direction of forces.
Plan and conduct an investigation to observe and explain changes in objects’ motion in terms of unbalanced and balanced forces.
Describe forces using qualitative data with force diagrams.

Students Will Be Able To:

Develop a model to describe matter is made of particles too small to be seen.
Conduct an investigation and present findings to explain mixtures.
Conduct a series of tests to determine the properties of a mystery solid and present evidence to support their claim.
Design Challenge- create their own playdough mixture to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in new substance.

Students Will Be Able To:

Identify characteristics of ladybugs (and their lifecycles) by observing what types of ladybugs are present on school grounds, in order to distinguish different inherited characteristics of ladybugs.
Students will compare and contrast the similarities and differences among insect, animal, and plant life cycles to create a foundation for the understanding of traits and inheritance.
Identify inherited and acquired traits to understand the origin of traits.
Identify plants' adaptive relationships to specific environments
