Superintendent

Mrs. Cynthia McCabe was appointed to a four-year term as
Superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools, effective July 1, 2022.

 

Mrs. McCabe earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Towson State University in 1994, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She earned a Master of Education in Policy, Planning, and Administration from the University of Maryland College Park in 1999. She currently is enrolled in Walden University’s EdD program and is in the process of completing her dissertation.

Mrs. McCabe began her career as a fifth grade teacher at Clemens Crossing Elementary School in Howard County Public Schools in 1994. She became a Gifted and Talented Resource Specialist in 1997 and a Professional Development Schools (PDS) Coordinator in 2000.

Mrs. McCabe joined the Carroll County Public School System as Assistant Principal at Piney Ridge Elementary School in 2001 and became Principal at Piney Ridge in 2003. She became Elementary Supervisor in 2007 and Director of Elementary Schools in 2011. Mrs. McCabe assumed the position of Chief of Schools for Carroll County Public Schools in 2019.
