Westminster High School FFA Members Receive State Recognition

Student leaders from the Westminster High School FFA Chapter attended the 94th Maryland FFA Convention from June 28-29, 2022, in Frederick.   During the event, members from the chapter were recognized for their achievements.

WHS FFA 2022 graduate Rebecca (Becca) Wimmer was recognized for her achievements in FFA, Agricultural Education, and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) through three awards.  First, Becca was awarded GOLD in Equine Placement Proficiency to recognize her accomplishments over four years working with several horsemanship facilities, most recently as a manager of one facility in California.  Her award application will be forwarded to National FFA for review and entry into national competition in the fall.  Second, Becca escalated to the Maryland FFA State Degree, the highest level of membership in Maryland, earned by less than 10% of FFA members in the state.  Finally, Becca was named the Maryland FFA State Star in Agricultural Placement, the highest achievement in Maryland for FFA members with SAE programs that include work-study in paid and unpaid internships.  Becca will represent WHS and Maryland in a regional stars competition to be held in the fall in conjunction with the Big E in Massachusetts.

Becca is the fifth consecutive Maryland FFA State Star to emerge from the Westminster High School FFA program, preceded by Henry Brunnett in 2018, Lesa Ramsburg in 2019, Avery Dull in 2020, and Abby Wimmer in 2021.

In addition, WHS FFA 2022 graduate Ella Roberts earned the Maryland FFA State Proficiency Award in Small Animal Care and Management for her three years of work with Debandale Kennel in Finksburg. Her application will also be forwarded to National FFA for competition in the fall.
