LFI teachers Natasha Costley and Katie McDonald have been co-coordinators of the food pantry, which relies solely on donations, for the last several years. They order items monthly using grant funds through the Maryland Food Bank and supplement with donations from schoolwide and community food drives.  The Westminster Weis has been a generous supporter, and Costley works closely with Sarah Cain, the store’s Frontend Manager,  to discuss the most needed items. Cain and General Manager Andrew Raimondo order turkeys so that the food pantry can provide families with holiday dinners.

This year Weis Markets ran its Fight Hunger program in March, June, September, and November. Customers could donate at all registers by rounding up their order or donating $1, $3, $5, $8 or $10. This year as a whole company, Weis Markets raised $1 million for the food banks in its market area.
