FFA Members Earn Recognition at State Convention

FFA Chapters from Carroll County high schools participated in the State FFA Convention on June  28-29 in Frederick.

Francis Scott Key High School had 20 students participate. Students competed and placed in the following:

FFA Knowledge: 4th place team overall

Members: Hadley Abbott, Lucy Bowers, Brenden Bosley, Abby Bertier

AG Knowledge Bowl: 4th place team overall

Members: Lucy Bowers, Brenden Bosley, Emily Fritz, Andrew Main

Parliamentary Procedure: 2nd place team overall

Members: Noah Geiman, Ellissa Rock, Naomi Smith, Hadley Abbott, Lucy Bowers, Andrew Wernick

Conduct of Chapter Meeting: 1st place team overall

Members: Lucy Bowers, Brenden Bosley, Emily Fritz, Andrew Main, David Geiman, Kylie Medlin, Abby Bertier

Dairy Handler:

Bodey Griffin 1st place individual 

Dairy Evaluation Team: 1st place team

Kelsey Zepp- 1st place individual 

Bryce Zepp- 2nd place individual 

Gabe Dell- 4th place individual 

Payton Zepp- 5th place individual 

Nine members of the Manchester Valley High School FFA attended the convention, and Delaney Warehime and Olivia Vandusen received their state FFA degrees.

In other competitions in which MVHS FFA members participated, the following awards were earned:

9th in Maryland – Olivia Vandusen
2nd Place Team in Maryland 

FFA Knowledge Career Development Event

2nd in Maryland - Hannah Littleton

3rd in Maryland – Delaney Warehime          
8th in Maryland – Cate Guest
1st Place Team in Maryland

Agricultural Knowledge Bowl Career Development Event

3rd Place Team in Maryland

Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event

3rd in Maryland – Hannah Littleton       
8th in Maryland – Cate Guest
3rd Place Team in Maryland

Members attended workshops and toured the Farmers Cooperative Association.

Four members of the Winters Mill High School FFA Chapter received their state degrees: Kayla Cook, Ava Demyanovich, Abby Morley, and Kylee Passmann. Hannah Haines, Goat Production; Rileigh Miller, Beef Production; and Kylee Passmann, Environmental and Natural Resources, received Bronze Proficiency Awards. Hannah Haines placed silver/5th place in job interview and was selected as the 2022-2023 Maryland State Vice President. Members also attended workshops while at the convention.
