In early November, two Career and Technology Center students had the chance to participate in the Maryland Fall Leadership Conference. Lauren Brock is the SkillsUSA Secretary, and Taylor Carter is the SkillsUSA Historian for the Career and Tech Center.  Both students are in the Print Production program.

At the conference, these students learned leadership skills and effective techniques to facilitate the growth of the local chapter of SkillsUSA. This was the first time in over a decade that students from Carroll County attended the Leadership Conference and earned their Statesman Pin. This pin means that they are very familiar with SkillsUSA, are improving their interpersonal communication skills, and are helping to gain new members for the Carroll County chapter.

Both students are actively involved in SkillsUSA. Carter previously participated in the Maryland State Job Interview contest, and placed third.  She plans to participate in the Advertising Design Contest in the spring. Brock previously participated in the Maryland State T-shirt Design contest, placing second in the state and eighth in the nation. She plans to participate in the Screen Printing Contest this spring. In addition to the contests, these students assist in planning and organizing fundraisers, school-wide activities, and philanthropy projects.
