A musher (dog sled driver) will visit Mt. Airy Middle School on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. She will give a presentation to sixth grade students from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the gym with her sled and one of her dogs. Volunteers will be able to help put booties on the dog and put on its harness. There also will be a “meet and greet” from 11:20 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. outside the school with seven dogs.

The visit is part of an Iditarod unit planned by media specialist Pam Lichty and English teacher Diane Haddad. Throughout the Iditarod, students will track their chosen musher and prepare brochures about many aspects of the race, sledding, and the Alaskan terrain.
