In the spring of 2019, the Superintendent formed a School Calendar Committee made up of parents, employees, community members, Community Advisory Council members, and employee bargaining group representatives. The committee met over the summer and considered options for the 2020-2021 school calendar for students. The committee presented three (3) options to the Superintendent.

While the Board of Education welcomes continued feedback on any of the options presented, at its meeting on September 11, 2019, the Board reviewed the three options and agreed to seek feedback on a modified version of “Calendar C.” Click here to view the proposed calendar. Highlights of the modified “Calendar C” include:

  • The first student school day is proposed to begin on September 8, 2020, the day after Labor Day.
  • Four (4) emergency closing days are built into the calendar,
  • Winter Break is proposed to begin on December 23, 2020, with students returning on January 4, 2021.
  • Spring Break, including the state mandated Easter holiday, is proposed to run April 2, 2021 through April 5, 2021.
  • The last day of school for students is proposed to be June 18, 2021.

Comments and suggestions may be submitted online at or by U.S. mail to the Superintendent’s Office, Carroll County Public Schools, 125 North Court Street, Westminster, MD 21157. The proposed calendar will be returned to the Board for action at its meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
