Carroll County Public Schools was pleased to host Dan Adams, Director of Training for Sources of Strength, a strength-based wellness program that focuses on suicide prevention.
During his visit, Adams presented an overall picture of Sources of Strength and spoke to how it can play a vital role in both our school system and our community. While in Carroll County, he visited middle schools, met with middle school principals and program coordinators, and presented information about the program at a community stakeholders event.
Sources of Strength is a peer-led mental wellness program that utilizes the power of peer social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture to ultimately prevent suicide, bullying, violence, and substance abuse. The program is currently in place at East Middle, North Carroll Middle, West Middle, and Winters Mill High Schools and eventually will expand to include all middle and high schools.
