Carroll County Public Schools will be implementing a color code system for all employees during inclement weather. The codes are available on the CCPS website at Inclement Weather Color Codes.  Please become familiar with the codes as we move into the winter months.

This color code system only applies to the work status for CCPS employees during inclement weather.  The methods we use to communicate information to staff regarding inclement weather (school closures, delays, or early dismissals) remain unchanged and are outlined below.

In the event of inclement weather, announcements are posted here first:

  • CCPS website
  • CETV – Channel 21 (Comcast Cable)
  • CCPS Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Local and regional radio and television stations including the four major Baltimore television stations (For a complete list of stations, see page 20 of the Informational Calendar Handbook)
  • An “employee announcement” e-mail from the Office of Community and Media Relations.

Later in the morning, all employees will receive an email through our SchoolMessenger notification system. All employees are automatically signed up for this email. Phone calls and/or text messages will also be sent to employees who opt to receive them. Please note – SchoolMessenger e-mails, phone calls, and texts are generally sent out between 5:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. However, times may vary depending on when the official decision is made.
