Students at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center were winners in two categories in the “I BUILT THIS” video contest sponsored by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) and Build Your Future.

Joseph Petrowicz (Welding), Dai Wei Chen (Carpentry), and Sara Warthen (Video Production) won in the Group Secondary category for a video documenting their project to build therapeutic stairs for children with walking disabilities. Michael Fulton (Welding) was the winner in the Individual Secondary category for his video, which described his project to build a log splitter for the front of a piece of equipment for a local business.

The annual video contest is intended to help promote construction as an industry of choice and illustrates the unique perspective of trainees or students and allows them to share videos of their projects. The videos are posted on the NCCER website at!-video-contest.
