The Carroll County Outdoor School received a Sustainable Maryland Green Center award from the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE). This award is a way to recognize and honor a facility’s efforts in implementation of environmental education, best management practices, and community engagement.

Outdoor School has been a Green Center for over 16 years, providing excellent environmental education to the students of Carroll County, as well as resources to help other Carroll County schools working toward being awarded the Maryland Green Schools status.

In addition to being on hand to receive the award, the Outdoor School instructional team participated as an exhibitor at the event.  They taught thousands of students from around the state of Maryland – and special guest Governor Larry Hogan – about backyard diversity.

The award was presented during the Green School Youth Summit at Sandy Point Park.
