Northwest Middle School is being recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Food Bank for the efforts of its students, faculty, and staff for their tremendous effort in this year’s Kids Helping Kids Food and Funds Drive.

The generous students and families will receive a special citation and a donation of Scholastic books for collecting over 790 pounds of food for the state-wide Kids Helping Kids Food and Funds Drive for the Maryland Food Bank held last October. Northwest was the top-achieving school for Carroll County.

All donations collected at Northwest were given to the NWS Food Pantry, which opens its doors to the public one day each month from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. The remaining dates for the pantry this year are May 23, June 27, July 25, and August 22.

Students across the state collected over 347,000 pounds of food for Maryland residents. Northwest Middle School and other top-achieving schools will be honored at the Kids Helping Kids awards ceremony and breakfast on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Maryland Food Bank.
