East Middle, North Carroll Middle, and Shiloh Middle Schools will be taking part in a Student Collaboration of Research Exploration (SCORE) Challenge on Friday, November 20, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at North Carroll Middle School. This challenge involves teams using computers and online databases to find answers to given questions in a specific amount of time.
The purpose of the SCORE Challenge is for students to hone their research fact finding skills in a friendly, competitive environment. SCORE was developed by two Carroll County Public Schools Media Specialists – Kathleen Brunnett from Westminster High School, and Laurie Owings from North Carroll Middle School. This is the fourth year of the competition. It has grown substantially and now has over 100 students involved in the exciting event. The students have been practicing after school for the past month and are excited to see who will take the trophy home with them this year to their schools. Shiloh Middle School currently holds the trophy and won first, second, and third place at last year’s competition, which took place at East Middle.
Carroll County Public Library has partnered with the SCORE program to help develop trivia questions and supply some gift bags for the participants.
