Fourth grade STEM students at Charles Carroll, Friendship Valley, and Robert Moton Elementary Schools will be participating in a world-wide Guinness World Record attempt on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. The students will participate in a 100-minute cross-curricular math and science lesson during which they will learn about DNA and creating models. The lesson will be taught by Gifted and Talented Specialist Ivy Allgeier and the classroom teacher.

The objective of the event is for every learner and facilitator to enjoy the process of learning math through science and to open minds to the relevance of math and science in “real life.” The event also will raise funds for the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences School Enrichment Centre, which supports disadvantaged African children to raise themselves out of poverty through sustainable education.
