Mt. Airy Middle School has achieved silver certification under the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Schools Rating System.
      
LEED is a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. Prerequisites and credits differ for each rating system, and teams choose the best fit for their project.
      
LEED certification identifies Mt. Airy Middle School as a showcase example of sustainable design and demonstrates leadership in transforming the building industry. LEED certified buildings are designed and built to minimize resource consumption, reduce life cycle costs, maximize health and productivity for the building’s occupants, and improve environmental performance.
