An author talk will be followed by a book signing. Books will be available for purchase from A Likely Story Bookstore. Winfield Recreation Council

  • Sykesville Baseball Umpires: REGISTER TODAY for this a co-ed program for those ages 12-18 years old. Celebrating America:  Local National History Day Competition Register by Jan. 31

For middle and high school students who participate in the Local National History Day competition. 

What is National History Day? Every year National History Day® frames students’ research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for the broad application to world, national, or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past. The 2019-2020 theme is Breaking Barriers in History.

To enter the National History Day Contest start by reading the Creating a Project page and contacting your State/Affiliate Coordinator to inquire about entering at the local or school level of your contest. The top two entries in each category at the Affiliate Contest level will be invited to the National Contest. The National Contest will be held June 14-18, 2020 at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Celebrating America partners are offering awards and prizes for Local National History Day projects that focus on local history or other specific criteria.  Click here for a complete list of awards and eligibility requirements for each award. To register to win Celebrating America National History Day local awards, participants MUST be registered to compete in the Local National History Day competition, scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2020.
