Outdoor Classroom

West Middle dedicated its Outdoor Classroom in May of 1997. Two sixth grade Science teachers and their students created the original Outdoor Classroom area by cutting grass; pulling weeds, planting shrubs and trees. The area was very popular and heavily used so the idea of an enclosure that would make the area usable during inclement weather was born. The addition of running water and electricity made the area more versatile as a classroom. Many local business people donated materials and/or time to building the Outdoor facility. The area has been expanded by students who created a butterfly garden. The entire area has been the site of many team and staff activities.

Memorial Garden

This memorial garden was designed and created by the CLC & Jump Start students at West Middle School. During the summer of 2007 these students along with dedicated teachers and their principal brought the students creation to life by weeding, digging, tilling, planting and mulching this area for everyone to enjoy. A special thank you to everyone involved in this wonderful tribute to those who have touched our lives throughout the years. |
