WEST MIDDLE TURNS 50!!
Plan to join the West Middle family on Saturday, May 17, 2008 for a celebration of West Middle School’s 50th anniversary. This will be a chance for all current and former alumni of West Middle to come together and reflect as we look forward to the years ahead.

Policy Change
Policy Change for Verifications of absences/tardies-2007-2008: When students are absent, arrive late, or leave school early before the scheduled dismissal time, the parent or guardian should provide a written note, a fax, an e-mail or a phone call which will be documented by the school personnel. All forms will be placed in students folders when verifications have been received by then school. A maximum time that a parent / guardian may have to verify an absence/tardiness is 5 days after the student's return. After this time the absence will be coded as unlawful.
School Safe Environment
In an effort to maintain a safe school environment for our students, all visitors to the building are requested to follow these procedures:

Report to the Main Office when you enter the building.

Sign in and obtain a visitor's badge.

Wear the badge where it is visible.
-
Return to the Main Office to sign out.
-
If you are volunteering, you will be given a volunteer badge to wear while you are in the building.
Parental involvement in a child's education is key to maximizing his/her learning potential.

Reminder: Reflection forms submitted after May 27, 2008, may not be processed in time to appear on the fourth quarter report card. Service hours for successfully completing FACS class in 8th grade will appear on the fourth quarter report card.

The blue jay walkers have reached their goal of walking across Maryland and now they are walking across America! We are now walking in the mornings from 8:25-8:40. Everyone is welcome! Please check into homeroom and join us in the cafeteria to walk for wellness!
