WHO ARE THE ATHLETIC BOOSTERS?
The Athletic Boosters are parents and/or friends who join together to support the student athlete and support and promote the athletic programs at Westminster High. It is not necessary for one to be a parent of an athlete. If you have an interest in the welfare of student athletes or athletic programs at the high school, this organization is for you! Booster members make a commitment to donating their time on behalf of student athletics. This can be done in several ways. To name a few, a booster member can volunteer to be a director for the snack bar, volunteer to work in the snack bar or volunteer to help with a fund-raising project. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Room B203 (across from the main office). We invite and encourage everyone to join us!

Get up-to-date sports schedules by going to the Sports button on WHS web site Home Page.

Fast Fact: The WHS weight room (undeniably the best in the county) was established by, and continues to be maintained by, the Athletic Boosters!!

The Junior Varsity Field Hockey Team went undefeated with a perfect 12-0 record, only allowing 1 goal all season!
GREAT JOB OWLS!

The 2007 Field Hockey team recently received a check for $500 as part of The Baltimore Ravens "Champions Program". The WHS Athletic Boosters are matching the amount and the funds will be used for upgrading the playing surface of the Field Hockey field once Softball season is complete. CONGRATULATIONS!

Get It While It's Hot!
New shipment of WHS Spirit Wear just arrived! We will be selling the Spirit Wear near the Concession Stand at most Home events. We also have baseball caps and stadium seats. We've got lots of sizes and colors, but act now because they go fast! For information on dates and availability, please contact Debbie Cavey at 410-552-1616 or email drjcavey@comcast.net

Support Westminster High School Athletics
The WHS Athletic Boosters hold monthly meetings on the second Thursday in room B203 at 7:30 p.m. The support of involved parents is what helps keep our athletic programs strong. Meetings usually end before 9 p.m. so come and join us. For more information contact Donna Moffett at 410-274-1617 or email onna@donnasellsre.com or visit our web page at http://www.carrollk12.org/whs/boosters/althleticbooster.htm.

"Board of Education News"
Carroll County Board of Education has recently approved the sale of Sponsor Banners for our Stadium. the banners are "officially" being sold by the Boosters and the money will go into an account at Central Office for WHS Athletics use only.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Get involved with your child's athletic endeavors by becoming a volunteer. the boosters need volunteers to act as Team Parent Representatives, Snack Bar Directors, and a Concession Stand Volunteer Coordinator. Please visit the web site to learn more about these volunteer positions at http://www.carrollk12.org/whs/boosters/althleticboosters.htm.

The boosters exist to supplement the athletic programs at the high school. Most people do not know that Mr. Terry Molloy, our Athletic Director, receives NO monies from the Board of Educations. His main source of income for financing all programs, equipment, field maintenance, uniforms, etc. is from the money collected at the gate of all the stadium events and fund-raising. The boosters exist to help the athletic director fund his needs. We cannot do this without volunteers!

SNACK BAR DIRECTOR COORDINATOR
The role of the Snack bar Director Coordinator is to ensure that there is a 'Director' to open the snack bar at each home game held in the stadium. The Coordinator has a master schedule that denotes the day of the home game, the sport, what time the game begins, and the name of the Director. This master schedule is hung on the inside of the concession stand door .
Responsibilities:
-Recruits new Directors, most often at the fall "Meet the Coach" night in mid-August
-Trains new Directors
-Makes a list of Snack Bar Directors that includes names and contact numbers
- Copies (via email) are sent to all Directors and to all Athletic Booster Group officers

For more information on Snack Bar Director Coordinator, please contact Beth Pearce At 410-440-1923 or email Bethpearce@comcast.net.

Snack Bar Directors
Directors are voting members of the Athletic Boosters. Their primary responsibility is to manage the concession stand during assigned games. Management of the concession stand includes:
-Opening the stand approximately 1 1/2 hours before the start of the game (except for Varsity football which requires at least
2 - 2 1/2 hours.
-Preparing the food

-Readying the stand for business (stocking condiments, candy, etc.)
-Assigning volunteers
-Restocking throughout the event
-Closing the snack bar (collecting money, clean up, restocking for the next event, i.e. coffee filters, hot chocolate made, condiments bins fille, etc.)

Snack bar directors are required to attend a training session before the start of the fall season and are teamed with an incumbent director for their first game. Since snack bar directors are voting members of the boosters, this implies their attendance at the monthly meetings.

IMPORTANT: Solicitation for home game snack bar coverage is needed as quickly as possible.
Team Parent Representatives, please contact Beth Pearce at 410-440-1923 or email Bethpearce@comcast.net

Good Luck for an Awesome 2008 Season! GO OWLS!
