Visiting Our School
Parents are always welcome to visit our school. As you know, the need for security has become more essential during the past few years. When visiting, always check in at the office first before going to the classroom. At that time, you will be asked to sign in and wear an identification badge. Everyone at TES is required to wear an identification badge. Staff members have been instructed to ask anyone in the building without a visitor or volunteer badge to return to the office.
Also, we request that parents who want to visit or observe their child's class notify the teacher in advance to ensure that the visit is at a time that will not affect valuable learning time. Parents who wish to observe may be accompanied by an administrator to answer any questions or concerns during the observation.
eSchool Newsletter
If you are interested in receiving daily updates about upcoming school activities and events, sign up for the eSchool Newsletter. Using the Internet, go to http://eschoolnewsletter.com and sign up. You'll be prompted to follow a series of steps and directions allowing you to specify your school(s) and the email address to which you'd like the newsletter sent each day. If you have children in more than one school in Carroll County, it allows you to select as many as applies to your family. It's quick and easy!
Volunteers
We always need parents who can offer their time and talents to assist our program. Volunteers fulfill a variety of functions at school during the day. If you have the time and interest in helping, please let us know. Volunteers must attend a Volunteer Training sessions prior to volunteering. Volunteers must also sign in at the office and wear a volunteer badge. For information on dates and locations of volunteer trainings near you, click here.
Medication
When a student is taking a prescribed medication, please make effort to arrange for medicine to be taken outside of the school day. If you have discussed alternatives and find that medication during school hours is necessary, a specific form must be completed for this purpose. The form is available in the school office. No medicine may be dispensed without written instruction from the parent or doctor. All medicine to be administered must be kept in the office. Please do not send medication to school on the bus with your child!

Volunteer Policy and Training Information
In Carroll County, volunteers have strengthened ties to the community by involving all citizens in the critical matter of education our youth. Volunteers are those who offer their time, effort, and/or talents without receipt of monetary compensation or student-learning hours, to benefit students in our school system. Volunteers are recognized as a valuable resource and play an important role in the education of all students. The volunteer program in Carroll County Public Schools utilizes the skills of Level I and Level II volunteers. Level I volunteers (guest speakers/readers, business representatives, concession stand operator, etc.) must register at a school site before volunteering. Level II volunteers (classroom helpers, chaperones, mentors, etc.) are required to attend an annual training session at least seven (7) days prior to volunteering. In addition, Level II volunteers who plan to chaperone an overnight trip/activity must submit a background check request thirty (30) days prior to the scheduled event. There will be no training sessions the day of a class trip. Training sessions are held at school sites and regional locations throughout the year. All volunteer training is valid until September 30th of the following school year. Carroll County’s Volunteer requirements are an outgrowth of concern and necessity, and are not intended to minimize the positive impact/rewards of volunteering. We acknowledge the dedication of our volunteers and recognize how their involvement in the school system helps students achieve. Additional information about the volunteering standards in Carroll County may be obtained by calling the County Coordinator at 410-386-1536. |
