Student Government Association
|
The SGA is a club for eighth grade students to become more familiar with issues facing their school, Carroll County and the state of Maryland. This club will create, review and vote on bills trying to be passed by the Carroll County Student Government, attend general assembly meetings at the various high schools and promote fundraisers for Sykesville Middle School. This is a great opportunity for students to get involved in student government and try and lobby for issues that matter to them.

Lego League
|
Lego League offers students in 6-8th grade an opportunity to participate in a competitive robotics competition that uses the Lego NXT robotics system. Students solve a simulated design challenge by using the robot to move through a course, pick up objects, and return to home base. Students will be exercising skills in programming and technological problem solving. Students will then compete against other schools in the area to see which team can complete the most missions successfully in the 2011-2012 season.
For the 2011-2012 school year, the club will meet after school. Announcements during AM Homeroom will be made in early September to sign-up. Sign-up is on a first come first
basis.
