High School Summer Credit Recovery Program 2008
June 30 - August 1 (No Class on July 4)
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Summer School for high school students will be scheduled at Century, Winters Mill, Westminster, and Francis Scott Key. Students currently attending these schools should register and participate in Summer School at their home school. Students currently attending any of the other CCPS high schools should register for Summer School through the guidance office at their home school, but may participate at any of the schools listed. A student who needs to take one of the science courses may attend either Winters Mill or Century High.

Students who are Carroll County residents and attend a private school may enroll. No out-of-county students may enroll.

Cost: $150 per course taken for credit for Carroll County residents. This fee is waived for students who are eligible for Free and Reduced Meals.

Times: Session I - 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Session II - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Transportation: Parents are responsible for the student's transportation during this program.

COURSES

Courses will be offered only for review credit. No original credit courses will be offered. Web-assisted courses, all H.S.A.-tested and math courses will be offered at Century, Winters Mill, Westminster, and Francis Scott Key high schools. Science courses will be offered in lab settings at Winters Mill and Century. A student may enroll in ONE of the following courses per session:

WEB-ASSISTED CURRICULUM

Each student must complete all required submissions (assignments) for each course in which he/she is enrolled. To receive credit for a course, a student is expected to report to the credit recovery lab each day until all required submissions and tests for the course have been completed.

GRADE REPORTS

Interim Reports are provided to students and parents. Final Grade Reports are mailed out from each student's home school after the summer school program has ended.

REGISTRATION

Students should register for summer courses through their high school guidance office. Students may register and pay before the end of the school year. All registrations should be completed by Thursday, June 26. Payment may be submitted in cash or with a check made out to the student's home school or to the school at which the student is registering.

HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENTS

Opportunity to retake an H.S.A. in Algebra I, Government, Biology, or English Global Perspectives will be offered from July 28 - August 1. Students who wish to only retake an H.S.A. at the end of July must participate in the summer course for that subject. There is no charge to students who are only participating in a course for H.S.A. assistance.
