Activities
North Carroll Middle School
has many clubs and organizations to get students involved. Below is a brief description of each club.
Yearbook Club
The yearbook club consists of staff advisors and students who are assigned as senior editors, photoshop editors, reporters, photographers, and surveyors. They produce a yearbook that reflects the events of the current school year at NCMS. The senior editors and photoshop editors meet every week on Mondays and Tuesdays after school until 4:00p.m. The reporters, photographers, and surveyors meet once a month after school, as well as during the school day.
Chorus
Divided by grade, each chorus prepares for the winter and spring concerts. Special groups of students represent NCMS through their participation in the Eisteddfod and All-State Chorus.
Instrumental Music
The Instrumental Music Department consists of six primary performance classes: 6th grade Band, 6th grade Strings, 7th & 8th grade Band, and 7th & 8th grade Orchestra. Weekly small group technique classes are given to all performers in addition to their large group rehearsals. Each group performs in two concerts each year: a winter concert held in December and a spring concert scheduled in May. Supplemental activities for advanced instrumental students include: County and State Solo & Ensemble Festivals, All County Band, All County Orchestra, the Carroll County Middle School Band & Orchestra Adjudication. Other ensembles that meet at different times throughout the year include Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Band.
The goal of the MultiCultural Club of North Carroll Middle is to encourage students to recognize and to embrace diversity through a series of school wide activities sponsored by the club.
Peer Mediation
The Peer Mediation Program trains seventh and eighth grade students to help their peers resolve interpersonal conflicts. This service can be requested through the guidance office. Peer Mediators also volunteer their time to give tours and become a buddy to new students.
S.H.O.U.T.
The goal of S.H.O.U.T. (Students Helping Others and Understanding Themselves) is to provide activities for students so that they can remain drug-free and interact with other students in school. S.H.O.U.T. also provides services to community organizations. Activities include the Red Ribbon Campaign, Smokescream, Rec Nights, and various community service projects. S.H.O.U.T. meeting times are the 2nd Wednesday of every month after school until 3:45p.m.
Ski Club
NCMS Ski Club allows students to learn and become more proficient skiers and snowboarders. We take 5 trips on Thursdays from 2-10p.m. to either Ski Liberty or Ski Roundtop, beginning in January. Students may either ski or snowboard each trip.
Student Government Association
SGA is dedicated to improving the life of students as well as our community and the world. Ideas for community service, fundraising, and entertainment come from, and are carried out by, student leaders.
Book Club
The student book club is meeting again this year. They meet the first Monday of every month from 2:30p.m. until 3:15p.m. in the Media Center. All students, faculty/staff, and parents are invited to attend. Join in the fun!
