Frequently Asked Questions

What are the school hours? The school day is from 8:45 to 3:15. The office is open 8:00 to 4:00 throughout the year (including summer). The office is closed on major holidays and other days as designated on the CCPS calendar.

What do I do if my child is absent? A note from the parent/guardian explaining a student’s absence is required within 5 school days whenever a student is absent from school. Absence notes can be sent to the school in a variety of ways. Parents can send a note when their child returns to school, fax the school at 410-751-3439 or you may call 410-751-3410. Also, we have set up an email account to accept absence notes; you may email to manattendance@carrollk12.org.

How do I get homework for my child when they are absent? You may call the school, 410-751-3410, to request homework. It can be sent home with another student or can be picked up in the office. Please call as early in the day as possible to allow teachers time to collect the work.

Who is the school nurse? Mrs. Kim Clinedinst, R.N. kacline@carrollk12.org, is our school nurse and can answer any questions you may have about health concerns, immunizations, or administering medications at school. Nurse Kim is here from 8:15 to 3:45 during the school year.

What time does school dismiss on an Early Dismissal day? Manchester Elementary dismisses at 12:30.

What should I do if I want to pick up my child? Please send a note in with your child in the morning.
If your child is leaving early, you will need to come to the office to sign your child out. Please bring your ID with you.
If you are picking up your child at the end of the school day, you will report to the gym. Please enter through the large set of doors by the gym. You will need to show your ID and sign your child out at the gym. It is always best if you send a note with your child when they are going to be picked up and please let us know who will be coming to pick them up. We will not release a child to anyone other than the parent/guardian without permission from the parent/guardian.

Where is the lost and found? The lost and found is located in the cafeteria. Students can check there for lost items before school or during their lunch shift. Glasses, jewelry and other more valuable items are kept in the office.

What do I do if my child gets a lunch charge? Please pay lunch charges back as quickly as possible. The cafeteria has a limited amount of money to loan. Please put the money in an envelope or Ziploc bag and mark it with your child’s name and grade. They can give it to their homeroom teacher when they arrive to school in the morning. The teacher will make sure it is given to the cafeteria manager.

Do I need to attend Volunteer Training? If you would like to volunteer in the school or chaperone field trips, you will need to attend a Carroll County Public Schools volunteer training session. A list of training sessions can be found at http://www.carrollk12.org/assets/File/CCPS%20News/volunteer09-10.pdf
