Opportunities for Students and Parents

Media Aides

Does your student love to read? Then the media center is the place to be!

Fifth grade students can apply to be a Media Aide at the beginning of the school year. Media Aides come to the Media Center on the same morning each week after their arrival at school. They help set up the Media Center for morning classes, run errands, shelve books and magazines, and help other students find books.

Being a Media Aide is an important position. It  requires a responsible student who is able to follow directions. Students may be given a test to determine their Media knowledge. Early  arrival time  at school is a must, as students must  be available to help for as much time as possible before the start of the school day.

Morning Announcers

Morning Announcers are  fifth grade students who apply at the beginning of the school year. They must be able to read well and  speak clearly because Morning Announcers give  daily news and important reminders.  Morning Announcers must be in  the Office by 8:35 a.m. to pick up their announcements and practice.

Students my pick up an application for Media Aide or  Morning Announcer in the Media Center.

Parent Volunteers

Love books and kids?

Parent volunteers are always needed as the Media Center is a busy, fun place ! There are books to check in and shelve, catalogs to be filed and  new books to process. You might even create a bulletin board or display! Most importantly, volunteers help students use computers, find books and complete their work.   In June we are always in need of short term volunteers to help with  inventory.  We welcome all volunteers, even for short time periods. Please  see the Media Team: Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Wilson or Mrs. Bankard  if you are interested. We hope to see you soon!
