Location: Southwest corner of Carroll County, Maryland in the town of Mount Airy. The town is shared by both Carroll and Frederick Counties. The town borders Frederick, Howard and Montgomery Counties and is in close proximity to Interstate 70 and Route 27. Interstate highway routes to Baltimore, Maryland and Washington D.C. are easily accessible from I-70.

Building History: Built & occupied in 1935, Mount Airy Elementary School has had rooms and additions added through the years. In the mid-80's, the school received major renovations that are reflected in its current appearance both inside and out. The school maintains the charm of its history and incorporates modern technology to enhance the learning environment, including a natural gas-fired heating system, school-wide air conditioning, and Internet access from the classroom and computer lab.

Staff: Mrs. Debbie Bunker starts her first year as principal of Mt. Airy Elementary. Mrs. Bunker was a Special Education resource teacher until becoming an assistant principal in 1994. In 2000, she was appointed principal of Linton Springs Elementary and led that school until coming to Mt. Airy Elementary in the summer of 2007.

Our assistant principal, Mrs. Allison Smith, was appointed to Mt. Airy Elementary in the summer of 2002. Mrs. Smith has over 21 years experience as a teacher and assistant principal.

Presently, Mt. Airy Elementary School consists of grades 3 through 5. Due to tremendous growth in this area, a new elementary school was built to ease overcrowding. Parr's Ridge Elementary School opened in August, 2005, and houses Kindergarten through grade 2.
