May/June

We are rapidly approaching the end of the year. Students will no longer be able to take books home after May 16th. They will be allowed to use the media center's resources at school. Letters will be sent home with students that have overdue books and mailed if necessary. Please help us get back all of our books so they may be used next year!

The results are in for the students who entered Carroll County's Media Festival. Winners of the County contest held at the Resource Center at Central Office have been announced.

Fifth graders are investigating what makes a web page accurate and useful in their research. They will be studying domain suffixes, keywords, appropriate web browsers and evaluation of websites.

Fourth grade is sharing their knowledge of the media center. Each year the fourth graders take a year end survey that allows us to access their knowledge and fill in the gaps in fifth grade to be sure they are ready to take on middle school.

Third grade is learning about poetry, magazines, and reference. We are focusing on different areas of media.

Second grade are learning about illustration and it's importance in picture books.

First grade is discovering what types of books each of the Dewey sections of the non-fiction hold.

Volunteers are always welcome. Please call the school if you would like to give of your time shelving books.
