Author of the Month: Maurice Sendak
November - December
Kindergarten students are have finished examining alphabet books and are now looking at the characteristics of counting books.
First graders are learning about Tomie DePaola, Don Freeman, and Maurice Sendak. We will continue our author studies all fall.
Second graders are learning about the order of our picture books and practicing using alphabetical order.
Third and fourth graders are investigating Culturegrams, one of the subscription databases available through the MDK-12 Digital Library.
Fifth grade is looking at the Dewey Decimal system for non-fiction and will soon be learning about the Internet and its uses.
Soon we will introduce this year's Maryland Blackeyed Susan Book program and the Media Festival.
Volunteers are always welcome. Please call the school if you would like to help us shelve some books or check-out in the mornings before our media clerk arrives.
