HEARING/VISION/SCOLIOSIS SCREENINGS

Hearing and Vision Screenings

Hearing and Vision Screenings are performed by technicians from the Carroll County Health Department annually, in every public school, for students in grades K, 4 and 8. If your child is not in one of these grades and you have concerns regarding their hearing or vision, contact your school nurse to discuss your concerns and have your child screened. Parents will be notified of any vision or hearing failures.

Scolisis Screenings

1) Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine which can develop into a permanent crippling disability if left untreated.

2) Screenings are performed by Carroll County Health Department Community Health Nurses.

3) Sixth grade girls and Eighth grade boys will be screened during a P. E. class.

4) Screenings will be done without a shirt. (Girls may wear a bra or bathing suit top).

5) All students will be given privacy.
