Team Collaborative Problem Solving

Elementary and middle school grade-level teams meet regularly, and team members work together on a variety of topics. Part of the work of the collaborative grade-level team is to generate a plan of action for a student, or a group of students, in need of extra support.
Collaborative grade-level teams:
- Create a shared understanding of the student concern(s)
- Redefine the concern(s) in observable terms
- Prioritize the observable concerns
- Gather data to determine the current level (baseline) of student performance
- Set a SMART goal relevant to the identified critical concern
- Design a plan of action (intervention plan)
- Monitor student progresss during the intervention plan
As grade-level teams members engage in conversations related to student achievement, they gain an understanding of the instructional strategies and practices that promote student learning. New knowledge is gained by team members with respect to teaching and learning.
