Overview: Research and instructional practice have repeatedly shown that reading and writing are complex processes, affected by learner factors, text factors, and context factors. Put simply, students understanding of what is read and their ability to express themselves in writing is affected by the type of learner they are, what they are reading or writing about, and where, why, and with whom they are reading or writing it. Our program is diversified to meet the needs of our learners. Reading and writing are integrated into our instruction to enable students to construct meaning from what they read and to express that meaning effectively in their writing through making connections to other areas of study and the world around them. |
