Pre-Kindergarten Transportation

Prekindergarten Transportation

School Bus Bus service is available to most Prekindergarten students. However, since Prekindergarten is not in every school, transportation may not be possible for children living outside of the established bus route. In that case, parents of eligible students are asked to self-transport.

Bus transportation is not guaranteed.

Some sites do host two prekindergarten sessions, an A.M. class and a P.M. class. The school staff does not determine which session a child attends. Transportation determines A.M./P.M. sessions based upon the number of identified children and the pick up/drop off locations. This information is not finalized until September.  Changes in transportation may occur, based on the enrollment of students.

Prekindergarten buses have assistants riding on the buses to help with students.  Prekindergarten buses also have lap belts for students and the students are required to use them.  Buses provide door to door service for prekindergarten students.

  1. Be ready at home five minutes before pick-up time.
  2. Watch your step and use the handrail when getting on and off the bus.
  3. Take your seat promptly and remain seated for the ride to and from school.
  4. Cooperate with buckling the seat belt. All children wear lap belts.
  5. Sit in the seat – facing front. Keep feet, books, and other articles out of the aisle.
  6. Keep hands and head inside the bus at all times.
  7. Do not eat on the bus at any time.
  8. Be quiet and orderly so the driver is not distracted.
  9. Listen to the bus driver’s instructions.
  10. Wait until the bus has come to a complete stop before leaving your seat.
  11. Cross ten feet in front of the bus with the “red flashing warning lights” only upon discharge and if you live on the opposite side of the road. Be sure to check traffic both ways.

Parents' Responsibilities

  5. Make every effort to cooperate with those who have the important job of getting your child to and from school safely.
  6. Remind your child to walk ten feet in front of the bus and to always look both ways when crossing.
  7. Help your child have a safe day, every day.
  8. Provide supervision for your child while walking to and from the bus.
