Media Services
The Friendship
Valley Media Center is open to all students, staff, and
families of the Friendship Valley community from 7:25am
until 3:00pm daily. Students have weekly book checkout with
their homeroom teachers on their assigned media day. Students
are welcome to come to the media center for additional book
checkouts throughout the week during appropriate times as
decided by classroom teachers.
Mrs. Towns
collaborates with classroom teachers in an effort to provide
support for classroom instruction and curricular support
through the use of media skills. Every student has an assigned
35 minute media class during the week. However, many students
visit the media center for additional instruction and research
opportunities as needed throughout the school year.
The Friendship
Valley Media Center has 9 computer search stations that
provide students and staff access to the Online Public Access
Catalog (OPAC). OPAC is a computer program that is used
to locate materials within the FVE media collection as well
as to check the availability of such materials. Friendship
Valley Elementary also has a mobil computer lab of 14 wireless
laptop computers that is used for media instruction and
is also available for classroom instruction.
In addition to
media instruction, the media center is available for small
group research, individual instruction, and special activities
on a request basis by classroom teachers. The media center
has three instructional areas, a research area, and a TV
production studio.
